We Have Arrived in Ireland

There are 51 pilgrims here for the the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, we many of us from the Archdiocese of St. John's  After a long flight from Toronto we have arrived here in Ireland.  It rained most of yesterday but we are happy to be here.  We found out that we are part of a 1000 canadians here for the Eucharistic Congress, the largest group of pilgrims outside of Ireland.  Since we have been here we have toured Dublin City, St. Patricks Cathedral, Trinity College where we say the book of the Kells.  Before returning to the Hotel we also visited the Canadian embassy where we were hosted by Ambassador Loyola Hearn and his wife Maureen.  Afterwards we travelled to St. Mary's Pro-Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Dublin, where we celebrated mass together.  After supper last night most were tired and headed to bed for an early night.   Today we are leaving for belfast after breakfast.   There is a great excitement among the group as for many this is their first time in Ireland, and this is where many of our roots are.  We have indeed being giving thanks for the those who have come before us to our island from here, bringing family, traditions and indeed our faith.   Please keep us in your prayers.  Here are some pics from Day one.
