Day 6 County Mayo to Galway

We left our beautiful Hotel in Castlebar County Mayo and headed further south along the west cost of Ireland, it truly is a breathtaking place and indeed a lot like home.  We stopped among the hills of Connemara, for pictures and continued to Kylemore Abbey, in Letterfrack, county Galway.  We celebrated mass together in this beautiful abbey situated at the base of a mountain on the shore of a lake.  On the grounds are an old Gothic church modeled on Norwich Cathedral, and a beautiful enclosed Victorian Garden.  We had a couple of hours to explore this holy, beautiful place.  We then continued through the hills of Connemara, singing and laughing, and listening to PJ tell us about Ireland.  Along the way we passed a “Holy Tree” were people hang rags representing prayers.  We arrived in Galway singing “Galway Bay” mid afternoon.  We had sometime to explore this historic city and also did a tour.  Tonight we are well fed and resting at our hotel.  Everyone is holding up and enjoying the pilgrimage.  Tomorrow travel the Rocky Road to Dublin.  Along the way we will stop at the Abbey of Clonmacnoise in Shannonbridge.  At 1pm we will be gathering with the other pilgrims from Canada, over 1000 the largest group of pilgrims from outside of Ireland.
